Professional services for research (B)

We intend to:

  • Improve performance, morale and effectiveness of colleagues working to support research, by treating central and faculty/school-based roles in Research IT, Research Data Management and Research Support as professions, and putting in place tools to support this.

We plan to deliver:

  • Clear signposting – where to go for help, with a defined set of job families and standardised job descriptions
  • Communities of practice across the University to match the research lifecycle

The benefits:

  • Better morale, staff satisfaction and retention of talent
  • Increased effectiveness measured by Cubane satisfaction figures
  • Human resource planning for the research support functions, allowing investment in critical roles supporting the research strategy
  • Better grant application processes, quality and success rates
